The Communcation System has been developed to be your RETAIL COLLABORATION CENTRE.

It is what makes us a community. We can send & receive messages to and from each other.

We can start topics for debates. Just start a conversation - we're listening.

Click on the links and the tabs - don't be afraid, nothing will break.

There is an AMAZING feature which allows you to:

  1. Send private messages to other members.
  2. Start a Sub-group where only nominated people can participate in a 'closed forum'.

As our membership grows and we have sub-groups (say shopping centre marketers, or newsagents) then certain mailings and posts will be for that special interest group only.

RRG Weekly Update

Retail Tip of the Week
We have posted our third Retail Tip of the week here. This week we talk about the landing strip.

Retail Resources
The site we want to direct you to this week is one created by the NSW government. Whilst it Australian specific, even our international members will get something from it.

Retailing in the News
A recent study reported that:

  • 15% of decision making is rational
  • 85% of decision making is emotional

Another Harvard study said that only 5% is rational. Major industries are clearly focused only on the rational. But marketers are clearly ignoring the 85% that really drives the buying decision.

New on RetailSmartResults
We've uploaded two very diverse but equally useful and interesting documents in FILE SHARING:

  1. There is a PowerPoint Presentation by John Moore on how we can improve our public speaking skills by learning from stand-up comics
  2. And there is a spreadsheet that allows you to calculate - with accuracy - the 'lifetime value of the customer'.

[This section for paying members only.]

Things we liked on the Net
We found this useful little application ont he internet. Whilst I am not myself a mind mapping' kind of person, you may be. this is a free tool you can download here.

On retailsmart blog this week there are quite a few must-reads. The controversial ad by The Foundry in response to a brief to get people to recognise their discriminatory attitudes towards fat people

Thought(s) for the Week
Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped. Elbert Hubbard.

Get smart - have fun...
