Membership card has been widely used in Australia business and this trend is still growing strongly. In addition, membership card is a valuable marketing tool for retailers which can help them to get the collection of the customers’ shopping habits and keep customer loyalty to their business. How many membership cards you have in your purse?

When is the member card becoming popular in our life?

Do these member cards really help you in your daily life?

Membership cards are the trend of retailing?

I just living in Australia about one year but  i have a lot of member cards in my wallet. Except bank cards, student cards,  i have MYER one, princeline clubcard, film card, supermarket card etc. Sometimes you dont need to pay money to own the card to be a member of that kinds of shops. Sometimes these membership cards really helpful to your daily life. For example, if you like to buy some lotto every week, you can own the lotto member card to register, and just selet your favourate in it then buy them eveytime without choose again and again also for an old people when they lost their ticket which win too much prize, the others who get that ticket can not get the money becouse on the end of ticket have register number, the lotto company will contact to winner directly.

Lots of time membership cards really helpful. Customers can get gift with total consuption.

To retailing, companies use membership card will know which group of people is the main consumer the the productes and collect these customers just send the advertise to these group of people save advertise fee cost. Of course, the important role of membership cards is increase the goods selling, companies can creat some benefits to these members in order to selling products more and more.

Is this your topic? If so, I would like to see the stats as part of the early work you do in researching this topic. Is there a TREND (up or down)?

i think membership card does have a trend up in retail..giving a simple example, coffee shop use membership card to offer consumer "buy five get one for free" things like that..big retailers such as woolworths offers discounted gas after shopping at woolworths...

basically, the reason why consumer choose to use membership card is simply because he/she can get rewards/benefits benefits from it or receive better/fast service.

on the other hand, retailer uses membership card to

1, maintain customer loyalty

2, track customer buying habits/patterns

3, drag/attract more consumer out of its competitors

is it a good thing to have so many cards for consumers... really!?

I did a lot of research on the relationship between membership cards and customer loyalty. Customers really use membership card to register consumption records which help retailers to collect customer information and then target them to do promotion.

This trend will increase. Also different shops can make a cooperation on retail then consumers can only use one cards in different shops.

i think there are many benefits for retailers to issue memberships to loyalty customers, but i think it is not a good trend in retailing development, becasue membership cards is universal in current business environment, and the development of membership cards is very well.
